Empowering the Self through Conscious Embodied Movement.

Alexander Technique is a practical and educational method for self-improvement. The Technique cultivates ease of movement and increases well-being through muscular reeducation and heightening the body’s kinesthetic awareness.

You learn to pay attention to your mind-body interactions and how these interactions affect your body’s use and functioning in everyday life.

Nick’s Teaching Philosophy:

The Alexander Technique is an educational process that helps people foster a new perspective or lens on how they see themselves and the world around them. From that process, I guide my students using hands-on feedback or verbal guidance, towards noticing how they use their bodies to do the activities they love with less effort and tension. When they can find this freedom of movement, they are more able to align their mind’s intentions with their bodies to experience a fuller sense of self. From that point, the student and I can begin to notice habits in their responses and actions that may be unnecessary or habitual, causing physical harm (joint pain, limited movement) or unneeded tension or stress.

I provide a collaborative space for my students to experience themselves with curiosity and love rather than judgment or fear. Believing that everyone has full power and authority over their bodies, voices, work, and actions, my teaching style is to offer tools and knowledge to support the student in discovering how to empower themselves more. I do not critique. My role is to meet the student where they are in the present moment to provide a space free of expectations and give specific, tangible, and valuable tools for the student to explore their use and find greater ease and functioning.
